Military Service Record: Daniel Brunner ’91


Daniel Brunner, a South Kent School graduate from the class of 1991, served in the United States Navy from 1994 to 2003. Enlisting shortly after graduation, he rose to the rank of E-6, First Class Petty Officer. His early assignments included serving on the USS Stark (FFG-31) from 1994 to 1998 and the USS McInerney (FFG-8) from 1998 to 1999, both stationed in Mayport, Florida.

From 1999 to 2003, Brunner was stationed at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he served as an instructor. His role at the Academy allowed him to impart his knowledge and experience to the next generation of naval officers. His dedication and commitment during this period were pivotal in shaping future leaders of the Navy.

After his honorable separation from the Navy in 2003, Brunner continued his service to the nation by joining the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Over a 20-year career with the FBI, he took on various roles and responsibilities, contributing significantly to national security. Daniel Brunner retired from the FBI in September 2023, marking the end of a distinguished career in public service.

At South Kent School, Brunner played three years of Soccer and Lacrosse.  He also held Infirmary Jobs, and participated in the Thursday Night Club.
