Cryptocurrency, often referred to as “crypto,” is a decentralized form of digital currency built on blockchain technology. It operates independently of traditional financial institutions such as governments or banks, offering secure and transparent transactions. The South Kent Fund is vitally important as it provides unrestricted financial support for all costs associated with the operation of the school in a given year, including:

It helps to bridge the gap between the actual cost of educating a South Kent  student, $70,000,  and what is brought in through tuition and fees.  The more robust the South Kent Fund is, the more it can enhance the quality of the educational experience of each and every student.  Resources for the fund are generated in part through the Annual Family Give Day Challenge that occurs on the national #GivingTuesday every Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Making a planned gift is a special way to support the school, especially if it is made to our endowment because it allows you to donate assets yet defer the time South Kent actually receives them. Advantages of planned gifts include:

Giving appreciated securities, such as stocks or mutual funds that have increased in value, can be one of the most tax-efficient ways to support South Kent School. By donating appreciated securities directly, you may be able to avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation while also receiving a charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the gift, subject to applicable tax laws.

If you own securities that have decreased in value, it may be more advantageous to sell them first, claim any eligible capital loss, and then donate the cash proceeds to South Kent School.
