New Senior Prefects on the Hillside

During the final week of classes, students congregated together to accept various awards for their academic, athletic, and communal accomplishments from the school year, the Hillside’s 9 new senior prefects were elected. These students were selected because of their unwavering dedication to the tenets of South Kent, exhibiting strong leadership and being good samaritans.

When the prefects step into their role, they serve as the voice of the students, leading the charge on important conversations within the school community. Once students address their concerns to the prefects, they relay the information to the Dean’s Office. Senior prefects also engage in the organization of services, seeing what lessons can be implemented at chapel talks. Becoming a senior prefect is a unique opportunity to learn how to be effective liaisons while mentoring the younger generations of South Kent students.

After a collective decision between students and faculty, the 2024-25 prefects were chosen. Austin Michaud and Jaden Mentor are the new co-head prefects, following in the footsteps of Connor Broderick and Mano Idir. Michaud was a member of the 18U Prep Hockey team during the junior season while also running South Kent’s illustrious intramural basketball league (SKSIBL). Jaden Mentor was a key member of the Prep Soccer team, helping the Cardinals win the Northeast Prep Soccer Championship against Hoosac School. Maximo Fernandez, Justin Chiras, Bodhi Walsh, Tomas Prieto, Francis Dunham, and Liam Mali were nominated as the next 7 prefects to help Michaud and Mentor.

The Hillside community is proud to have these 9 young men take the reigns as the beacon of student success on campus, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in their new leadership roles
