Richard K. Maxson, known as “Dick,” served honorably in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. Richard was especially proud of his naval service, cherishing the memories of his time spent in Naples, Italy.
During his tenure, he was also involved in a special training assignment at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where he met his future wife, Doris Jean (Gerardy) Maxson. Their love story began with a chance meeting during his assignment and culminated in their marriage in 1955 after he completed his military tour.
After his military service, Richard pursued higher education and had a successful career in accounting and auditing, with significant contributions in cost accounting, business systems, and financial compliance review. He continued to demonstrate his dedication and meticulous attention to detail in both his professional and personal endeavors.
Richard’s legacy includes his commitment to family, love for sports, and a deep affection for his pets. He passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023, in Kennewick, Washington, at the age of 92. His ashes will be interred beside his beloved wife, Doris, in a private family ceremony at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick.
