Richard R. Cuyler ’48

Message from Dick’s wife Saundra –

I’m grieved to say that my husband of 43 years, Richard Cuyler, has passed away. He died in Hospice from heart failure on March 18, 2025. He was an actor, educator, tumbler, clown, and juggler. He strove for excellence.

He loved class S.K.S. reunions and had wonderful memories of his youth in high school. His father, John Potter Cuyler, taught Latin at South Kent as a member of the early faculty with Headmaster Sam Bartlett.

Dick always said that his experiences at S.K. molded the man he became. He had a love of Latin and French, sewing on buttons so they would never fall off, gentle discipline, mischievous pranking, washing dishes, walking long distances, hockey, spontaneity, and living life with integrity!
