History: This small quaint New England cottage was built for and named in honor of Mrs. Amy F. Lyon.  Mrs. Lyon arrived in 1930 on South Kent’s campus, just as the new infirmary was unveiled.  Hailing from Scotland, she had the impressive designation as a “Queen’s Nurse”, in recognition of her dedication to the highest standards of nursing.  She quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with, fiercely protective of her patients. Her portrait hangs in the Schoolhouse as a testament to her years of dedication and service.  Fittingly the class of 1934’s yearbook dedication reads “To Mrs. A. F. Lyon – Whose love of her work and untiring labors have been an inspiration.”
