This January, South Kent School started a new tradition called Cardinal of the Month, celebrating the hard work that students demonstrate throughout the school year. At the end of each month, one select student is chosen as someone who has performed at a high level athletically and academically all while being a reliable and respectful community member on the Hillside.
The process of picking Cardinal of the Month begins with coaches choosing 1-2 students per sports team, highlighting the best player and leader during the month. Furthermore, teachers of those students provide insight to the administration on the students’ academic progress and point out any notable actions they take exhibiting leadership and helping their peers. With this information, the communications department, athletic director, and administration come to a final decision based on the data presented.
This initiative looks to recognize student-athletes for their drive and determination to make South Kent a better place. Also, it aims to inspire all students to emulate the dedicated leaders that come before them.
