Emilio Pettersen ’18


Matthias “Emilio” Pettersen is a Norwegian hockey player who was born on April 3, 2000 in Manglerud, Norway. After playing in Europe during his early years, Pettersen joined the Hillside from 2014-2016, tallying 53 goals and 89 assists. Because of his strong results and high work ethic, Pettersen then transitioned to the USHL, playing for the Omaha Lancers and Muskegon Lumberjacks through 2018. 

Before going to the Mile High City to play college hockey at the University of Denver, Pettersen was drafted 167th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2018 NHL Draft, getting drafted alongside three of his South Kent Selects Academy teammates (Farabee, Pinto, Brind’Amour,). Using college to build on his strength and skills, Emilio Pettersen. At the University of Denver, Pettersen played in 76 of the 77 games, leading the team his sophomore year with 36 points. Emilio Pettersen was named to the NCHC All-Academic and Second Teams, coming in second for the NCHC Forward of the Year Award. Pettersen is presently under contract with the Calgary Flames as a member of the Calgary Wranglers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
