Donald L. Cleveland ’63

Passed away on August 28th, 2023.

Don passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023 in Stamford, Ct. He was 79 years old and born on August 20,1944 to Donald and Caroline Cleveland. Don entered South Kent as a second former and graduated with the class of ‘63. He was president of his class for five years, played Varsity hockey four years and was captain of the crew team as well as the hockey team his senior year. He loved South Kent, especially playing hockey on the black ice of Hatch Pond in the cold shadow of the hills.

Don attended Franklin and Marshall College and after a year, joined the Air Force Intelligence Division being stationed in Turkey and on the Aleutian islands. Graduating from Babson College, he began a lifelong career in investments and real estate working in Greenwich, Ct.

Don is fondly remembered by those who knew him throughout his life. Struggling with Parkinson’s he showed an unwillingness to give up, walking multiple times daily. And his neighbors as well as strangers would encourage him onward while thanking him for the example he was setting.

Don is survived by his two brothers, Clem ‘65 And Tom ‘70, a niece, Beth and a nephew, Patrick. And two great nieces, Bryn and Emmie. We will miss his quiet presence.
