Bo, as he was called, was born October 19,1935 in Cambridge, MA. He was a son of the late Reverend James Holland Beal and Georgette Appleton Binney Beal. He was a graduate of South Kent School in South Kent, CT. Bo continued his education at Duke University enrolling in a college program to prepare students for a career in Religion Ministry. Part of his education also included joining the Marine Corps for 3 years being stationed in Cherry Point, NC.

It was now time for Bo to start a career. He was affiliated with Raytheon Corporation’s Human Resources division in Massachusetts and Portsmouth for 12 years. Bo then went onto becoming a successful Human Resource Consultant with Costello, Erdlen and Co. His clients included USFG Corp, Hasbro Inc. and Coleco Inc. Bo was a respected business professional and a humanitarian, he never forgot the human side of the business. He served as President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the Association for Training and Development.

Bo and Edna met at a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Newport and were married July 28,1985 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. They were married for 40 wonderful years and if any of you ever asked Bo what made him pop the question, he would say The White Dress!!!

Bo was an avid sailor growing up in the Salters Point area of South Dartmouth, MA. He spent many years on various types of sailboats and many sailing adventures. He was also an avid golfer belonging to Wanumetonomy Golf and Country Club for over 40 years. He was a member of the Funny Swingers weekend morning golf group, The One O Clockers, Cappy’s group, and the Sunday Couples group.

During his time at Wanumetonomy he worked with various boards to help make the club a great place. A proud time at Wanumetonomy for Bo was obtaining 2 holes-in-one. Bo and Edna had the good fortune to spend over 20 years playing golf and making many new friends in Pinehurst, NC. What he enjoyed about the game of golf was at the end of the game there were always good stories which would put a finish to a great day.

He was an ardent reader of history. He maintained over 1,000 books in his own library. Bo made friends everywhere he went. One of Bo’s traits was his kindness to all he met regardless of their position, and he took time to listen to each individual.
