The Sustainable Trail Building and Design class kicked off the Fall Term exploring the IMBA flagged mountain bike trail system that begins behind Admiral James and Sybil Stockdale Arena. Students were challenged to locate the existing trail in the dense woods and to remap this trail using GPS.

The Center for Innovation at South Kent School continues to be a leader in modern education. One of its more unique classes this year focused on setting up a weather balloon and letting it fly. The flight occurred on Friday, November 20th in the cool, early morning air that was calm enough to allow for a safe journey.

The Center for Innovation is a program that embraces change. To consistently provide students with the cutting edge academic excellence that South Kent School is known for the program adapts to the changing world around it. One of the best examples of this evolution is the inclusion of a new lab area located in the school’s library. The room has been set up to accommodate some of the CFI’s cutting edge classes including applied technology courses and thought incubation.

On Friday, May 31, 2013 students enrolled in the Historic Building Technologies course worked with New England Barn Company to erect the frame of the first classroom building (a two-story 30’ x 40’ timber frame structure) at South Kent School’s Center for Innovation (CFI).
