Recharging and Reaching Goals

You are here

As I left campus on November 24th to head back to North Carolina, I was very glad that I had reached one of my goals: to go home with a 4-0 record. My other goal was to have all A’s; I fell short with my B in Calculus, but I know I can pull that up.

The day I traveled home started off kind of frustrating because of my original flight was cancelled, but I stayed positive and I ended up getting home safely that night. The first couple of days at home were sort of odd for me. At first, I felt like I was a visitor. This was my first time being away from home for a long period of time, so it was a new feeling for me.

Over the break I did some relaxing, but not too much, because I knew I had to be prepared for a game two days after we got back. I spent my Thanksgiving with my family; we just enjoyed each other’s company and watched football. Before I knew it, and right when I was starting to get comfortable, it was Saturday. I spent my day at Old Dominion University and got to witness my future basketball team beat Virgina Commonwealth University.

The next morning, I was up early to head to the airport. As I saw my hometown fade away in the rearview mirror, I must admit that a part of me was wishing to start the week over again. But there was another piece of me that felt that I was going back to the place where I was meant to be.
I can honestly say that coming back to school wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be, and not just because I knew I would be coming back home in under three weeks. It was because I feel like South Kent School is where I need to be to continue on my path to a successful life.
