Cardinal Call: Tomas Jamett '16

You are here

We talked with sixth former Tomas Jamett about his wildly sucessful Prep Soccer season and his other wonderful experiences on the Hillside. Here is the conversation we had:

What has been your best experience so far on the Hillside?

Winning the soccer championship was pretty special, especially on top of an undefeated season. I won't ever forget that.

What brought you to SKS?

I was always a good soccer player back home in Chile, but I never had the academics to keep me in competitive soccer schools. I knew that South Kent School had that strong balance of academics and athletics that I needed.

What makes the Prep Soccer program here special?

Other programs focus so hard on the sport that the discipline it requires is never taught. You can be the best player in the world but fail without the kind of discipline provided here.

What has been your most significant experience with the Affinity Groups?

The Call to Explore Thriller dance for Halloween. It was something I never thought I would do that I enjoyed.

How have you grown during your Hero's Journey?

I had one D2 offer for soccer when I arrived. I now have 6 D1 schools interested in me. I have become a more whole person than just a soccer player and the college interest I have now shows that.

We thank Tomas for his honest answers and couldn't be happier to hear that SKS has given him such wonderful college opportunities that just weren't possible before. We wish him all the best and know that his future will be bright with the talent and drive he possesses.
