Student Activities

Joint efforts from the director of student activities and the activities prefect help coordinate the weekend activities with our resident weekend team.

Being a member of the Association of Independent Schools, South Kent is able to offer weekend activities for students every weekend of the academic school year, with South Kent hosting a few of its own events. The Association consists of single-sex boarding schools from Springfield, MA to Westchester County, NY. A sample of weekend activities might include. Dances, Danbury & Winstead movie theaters, ice Cream sundaes, trips to the mall in Danbury and New Milford shopping centers, bowling, aser-tag, Six-Flags and bus trips to the town of Kent for access to a grocery store, various restaurants and local stores.

Cardinal & Black

Since it’s birth in the Fall of 1940 South Kent boys have been competing for the coveted Cardinal and Black Cup. The competition began one night when the student body leaders decided the school should be divided into two clubs in order to boost competition and increase boys’ interest in events, which before have not attracted them.

The competition begins with an all school assembly were the new boys will wear their color for the first time and join their club. This event will take place during the first all school activity of the new academic year.

The competitions have changed throughout the years, but the idea remains the same. Prepare yourselves for a year long competition that will challenge your mind and body.
