2016 Czech Exchange
South Kent School has been a part of the Czech Student Exchange Program for the last eleven years. Built upon strong traditions, students from each country have an opportunity to see how culturally diverse the world is by experiencing each other’s native lands. Each school takes turns traveling and hosting the opposite school, so every other year SKS boys go to the Czech Republic, and on the years that they don’t travel, Czech students come here. This year we will be hosts rather than travelers.
The Czech Students in front of nearby Kent Falls
On April 9, 2016, ten students from a school in Brno, CZ will arrive on the Hillside. Their trip extends until April 17th and they will use every minute of that week to explore. Their busy schedule will include attending classes, a trip to New Haven and even a trip into world famous New York City. Nancy Lyon, the founder of the program, continues to stay involved in the exchange with Patrick Crowley '08. Both Nancy and Pat have traveled to the Czech Republic in past years and look forward to hosting the students this year. When asked about the program, Pat had nothing but good things to say. “It's so nice to extend our South Kent family to international borders. I have taught world history with Nancy before and to actually experience all Europe has to offer takes education to a whole new level that transcends any classroom. I love that we give our students this opportunity and look forward to continuing the tradition for years to come."
