The Selects Academy at South Kent School U-16 National team is a chance for elite level players to participate in a program that combines high-level hockey with high-level academics. While attending school, players receive the highest level coaching, exposure and training availableand they play a AAA schedule that is not limited to the traditional 33-game prep schedule. The U-16 National program provides a highly competitive 50-60 game, AAA level schedule consisting of highly recruited showcases, elite tournaments and competitive, independent non-league games across the U.S. and Canada. Eligible to compete for the USA Hockey Tier I national championships. These players regularly receive attention and college commitments from some of the top Division I NCAA schools along with players being drafted into the USHL.

Head Coach Matt Plante joined the South Kent School community in 2012. He brings a wealth of knowledge and success to South Kent from the USHL where he was the assistant coach for the Indiana Ice and previously as the head coach for Hebron Academy. Formally, he was the assistant coach for the University of Connecticut and Wesleyan University. Matt has extensive experience coaching and evaluating for USA Hockey and many years of successful showings at Hockey Night in Boston. Matt’s was a four-year letter winner at Quinnipiac University, the 2001-02 MAAC conference champion and recipient of the 2001-02 coaches award.
