At South Kent, each boy’s journey along his Hero Path is aided by nurturing creativity in the arts.
We encourage students to showcase, improve upon and discover new artistic talents throughout their time at school, whether this is in a musical or dramatic performance in our theater, in front of the entire school at an assembly, in a juried show for the Kent Art Association, or casually with friends in the dorm.
Students explore projects that are designed to develop artistic ability and instill appreciation for both art history and creativity through a wide variety of opportunities.

South Kent is proud to offer a range of performance opportunities for our students. Students are welcome to participate in a variety of instrumental lessons, including: drums, guitar, bass, piano and voice. Lessons for additional instruments are offered based on student interest. Other performance opportunities include Chorus, Gospel Choir and a cappella. Each chorus is comprised of both students and faculty and rehearse once a week.
The school also offers students an opportunity to record their own compositions in Cardinal Underground. Cardinal Underground is a music initiative that meets twice a week, giving students an opportunity to record both covers and original works in Bringhurst Theatre. It also hosts events on Friday evenings in the dining hall which range from Open Mic Nights to Music Game Nights.
